Making (some) money from PayPerPost

Blogging isn’t free… there are web site hosting costs, plus the countless hours spent writing material and troubleshooting and web site problems. Mind you, I’m not in it to be rich (though sometimes I wish…), but it’s nice to cover the fees you have to pay to web site hosts and domain registrars.

Some people prefer to have ads on their site, which I used to do, but you don’t get paid much because Google takes most of the money, plus they set strict guidelines. In over a year, this site only made pennies from many page views.

Almost a year ago, I signed up for PayPerPost (get paid to blog) because it was another way to recoup money from the web site to pay for domain fees, and I can’t say that I’ve had a bad experience. All you have to do is write about a featured product or site, and you get paid pretty well in contrast with online ads. Some question the ethics of paid endorsements, but consider that on television and other media advertisements run rampant as well. At least with PayPerPost, you have to disclose the fact that you’re being paid for it.

Small opportunities pay about $5, and I’ve seen some as high as hundreds (which this site doesn’t qualify for). They pay right to your PayPal account, and the site’s quite efficient (although I wish for better function over a pretty interface). Check them out if you’re tired of putting banner ads on your site.
