Family stunned to find racial slur on couch
When their new sofa was delivered to their Brampton, Ontario home, Doris Moore was approached by her curious daughter to explain the meaning of one of the labels attached to the sofa: “Mommy, what is nig…ger brown?”
The sofa came with a label describing it as “[tag]Nigger[/tag]-brown”, and was purchased from a [tag]Mississauga[/tag] [tag]furniture[/tag] store. The store owner claims innocence in this affair, instead referring the family to his supplier who promptly blamed the manufacturer in China. The supplier told the family that he’s put in a request to have the offending labels removed.
“In this day and age, this is totally unacceptable,” says Moore, “[my daughter had] never heard that word before and didn’t really understand the concept of it.”
