Can you help me with my computer?

22208000_9a9fa3a274.jpgWhy does everyone think that they can go around asking people to fix their computers for free? Just because your “friend” (who you never talk to otherwise) has some degree of skill with using computers doesn’t mean that you can expect them to share this expertise for free. Seriously.

First of all, it’s not that hard to Google (use a public computer if yours isn’t working). I’ve fixed computers for money before, but I’ve never had to take a class in that because I learned by experience and by Googling when I don’t know the answer. No crazy skill involved here.

If you must ask someone else to fix your computer because you’re too lazy to Google or you’re too cheap to bring it to a store (where they charge around $75 per hour), at least reward your “friend” with some cash or something. Maybe they’re nice and won’t charge you the first time, but computer troubleshooting, while fairly easy, takes a lot of time out of someone’s schedule. Just don’t expect them to fix your computer because you deserve it.

Oh, looking back at my blog entries, this one came to mind too: LINK.
