Another school shooting 16 Apr 07

Filed under: Personal Opinion — Chris Uncensored @ 3:41 pm

800px-virginiatech-burrusshall-fromdrillfield.JPGThis morning, there was a school [tag]shooting[/tag] at [tag]Virginia Tech[/tag], leaving at least 31 dead. The identity of the shooter is unknown at this time, and there’s no confirmation that he was a student.

It’s truly a tragedy in our society of high technology that something like this still happens. Last year, a regular visitor to an online goth community shot students in [tag]Dawson College[/tag] (Quebec), while the famous [tag]Columbine[/tag] shootings claimed the lives of 13 children.

I’m not making any claims about the background of the shooters, or try to delve into their motivation for committing such acts before turning the gun on themselves. All I have to say is this: there’s obviously something wrong with such a desire and I hope we all reach out to others before they reach such a stage as their last resort.

Washroom stall philosophy, part 1 11 Apr 07

Filed under: Personal Opinion — Chris Uncensored @ 1:37 pm

Thinking about Colin Busby’s post (LINK), I’ve decided to post some interesting comments I’ve read in washroom stalls over the years. These are the only 2 [tag]quotes[/tag] I can think of right now:

“You’re sitting on the Conservative platform.” —[tag]Mount Allison[/tag] University Athletic Centre

“I pissed on this.” —[tag]Albert Head[/tag] ACSTC

Hopefully, I can find some more later and put photos up.

Family stunned to find racial slur on couch 08 Apr 07

Filed under: Business — Chris Uncensored @ 10:18 am

JIM WILKES/TORONTO STARWhen their new sofa was delivered to their Brampton, Ontario home, Doris Moore was approached by her curious daughter to explain the meaning of one of the labels attached to the sofa: “Mommy, what is nig…ger brown?”

The sofa came with a label describing it as “[tag]Nigger[/tag]-brown”, and was purchased from a [tag]Mississauga[/tag] [tag]furniture[/tag] store. The store owner claims innocence in this affair, instead referring the family to his supplier who promptly blamed the manufacturer in China. The supplier told the family that he’s put in a request to have the offending labels removed.

“In this day and age, this is totally unacceptable,” says Moore, “[my daughter had] never heard that word before and didn’t really understand the concept of it.”

Can you help me with my computer? 04 Apr 07

Filed under: Personal Opinion, Technology — Chris Uncensored @ 2:42 pm

22208000_9a9fa3a274.jpgWhy does everyone think that they can go around asking people to fix their computers for free? Just because your “friend” (who you never talk to otherwise) has some degree of skill with using computers doesn’t mean that you can expect them to share this expertise for free. Seriously.

First of all, it’s not that hard to Google (use a public computer if yours isn’t working). I’ve fixed computers for money before, but I’ve never had to take a class in that because I learned by experience and by Googling when I don’t know the answer. No crazy skill involved here.

If you must ask someone else to fix your computer because you’re too lazy to Google or you’re too cheap to bring it to a store (where they charge around $75 per hour), at least reward your “friend” with some cash or something. Maybe they’re nice and won’t charge you the first time, but computer troubleshooting, while fairly easy, takes a lot of time out of someone’s schedule. Just don’t expect them to fix your computer because you deserve it.

Oh, looking back at my blog entries, this one came to mind too: LINK.
