Hilarious article on cliches in video games
Ever play a video game and realize how it usually follows a specific formula? Ever wonder why villians always announce their evil plans? Then you have to read this article:
Yes, even though the entire world lies in your hands, [the shopkeeper] expects you to cough up some dough because saving the world just isn’t enough for him.

This article was very very funny. Unfortunately, I am a big fan of some of those cliches. Particularly the one about having unlimited time to do nothing while the evil villain waits for you to arrive at his castle. … I suck at video games. Having unlimited time makes life easier.

They really do need to create some more variety in terms of plot though.

It may have been cool in 1996, but not 2006.

The problem is that the author seems to ignore the reason some of those cliches exist… example being the elements… the elements were always the things that the world can be broken down into… so the pre socratics argued over how the world was broken down into fire water earth etc. However, if we are talking about magic we might supose that something like oxygen isn’t an element of magic…
Did I take this way too seriously? The article was funny but humorous points through misrepresentation tick me off.
