My favourite source for copyrighted material, Torrentspy, recently put up a plug for a service called FileWire, which promises 250MB of free web storage for your files.

Although they say they’re out of space for now, I had a look at their FAQ. According to their FAQ, they hired a guy for what is, in my opinion, the most greatest job you can have:

What is your adult file policy?
We DELETE all adult files. We have people whose specific job is to check ALL images and files uploaded, if it is adult - it gets deleted. Simple.

Naturally, I fired an inquiry in their direction:

Hi,

I noticed in your FAQ that you have people to check the contents of the files for copyrighted material and other inappropriate files.

Do you have an opening?

Sorry, no, not at this time. And especially after that downtime we had (chain of events that really killed us for a week) we are working on getting traffic back up. I will keep you in mind if I do need someone though. Thanks!

Not really, but it does make for a catchy title.

I’m in the Charlottetown airport right now, and needless to say, it’s not the booming metropolis of my imaginations. Check-in went fine, except for the part where I was picked “randomly” for more testing and had my baggage thoroughly searched. It’s alright, except for the fact that I was the only visible minority in the area. Funny how these things work.

“Don’t be evil.”Those were the famous words Google included in its 2004 stock exchange listing - and a search on this term lists Google’s corporate philosophy page.But that New Age corporate philosophy is under threat by the very people it aims to help, because Google Australia can’t find any female engineers who want to work for it.

Why, in a society where equality is strived for, are we still bound to the whole conception of tokenism? Just because there aren’t any [insert minority here] doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing. Don’t include minorities for the sake of having token figures.
